Blue-Footed Booby -
Quito-Galapagos
 Minimum
number of travelers is 10, maximum 16. This is a 12-day tour. Tour
the Galapagos Islands, living aboard an 80-ft yacht for one week.
See different islands and visitor sites each day. Snorkel and/or
scuba dive to view the magnificent marine life. Swim with sea lions,
penguins, flightless cormorants, sea turtles, marine iguanas, and
sharks. See giant tortoises, land iguanas, Darwin’s finches,
albatrosses, and boobies, boobies, and more boobies. Also spend
two days in Quito, the picturesque capital of Ecuador.

Itinerary
| Day 1 - Friday |
Depart for Quito, capital of Ecuador. |
| Day 2 - Saturday |
Take a city tour to familiarize ourselves with
the capital of Ecuador. Visit a monument on the equator at Mitad
del Mundo. |
| Day 3 - Sunday |
Fly to Baltra, Galapagos. Board Eden. Boat a
short distance to the north coast of Santa Cruz Island and visit
Bachas Beach, a good place to swim and snorkel. |
| Day 4 - Monday |
Travel to North Seymour Island and hike 2.5
km trail to view blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds. Also seen;
sea lions, marine iguanas, and lava lizards. Boat to Santa Fe Island
off the southeast coast of Santa Cruz and anchor in a turquoise-blue
lagoon. Take a walking tour of Santa Fe to view land iguanas and
nesting brown pelicans. Great snorkel opportunity to see white-tipped
reef sharks and many other sea creatures. |
| Day 5 - Tuesday |
Espanola (Hood). At Punta Suarez take a two
km trail to see masked boobies, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas,
and a waved albatross colony. Watch aerial action around blow hole.
Snorkel in Gardner Bay and see white-tipped reef sharks. |
| Day 6 - Wednesday |
Floreana (Santa Maria). See lagoon with flamingos
and many other wading birds. Visit Post Office Bay. Good snorkeling
at two different locations. |
| Day 7 - Thursday |
Boat to Santa Cruz. Tour Puerto Ayora, largest
town in the islands and home to the Charles Darwin Research Station.
Tour the station and see Lonesome George. Travel inland to the highlands
and visit a private tortoise reserve and lava tubes. |
| Day 8 - Friday |
Boat to Isla Bartolome off the east coast of
Santiago Island. Great views from 114-meter summit. Penguins are
often present. Also good snorkeling. Travel to Santiago and visit
Puerto Egas and its black lava shoreline where eroded shapes form
lava pools, caves, and inlets with a great variety of wildlife.
View sea lions and fur seals (fur sea lions). Good snorkeling. |
| Day 9 - Saturday |
Overnight boat trip to Genovesa. Visit red-footed
booby colony. Also seen at the two different landings are masked
boobies, great frigatebirds, red-billed tropicbirds, swallow-tailed
gulls, storm petrels, Galapagos doves, short-eared owls, and sea
lions. Good place to snorkel and maybe see hammerhead sharks. |
| Day 10 - Sunday |
Travel to Black Turtle Cove on Santa Cruz Island
to view sting rays and white-tipped reef sharks. Return to the airport
on Baltra and return to Quito. Free afternoon. |
| Day 11 - Monday |
Take walking tour of Old Town, the colonial
center of Quito. Free afternoon. |
| Day 12 - Tuesday |
Return to US. |
